Manchester United are closing in on their first signing of the summer after striking a deal with Feyenoord for Tyrell Malacia, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Per the report, the Red Devils have reached an agreement with the Eredivisie outfit for an initial €15 million fee plus €2m in add-ons.

Malacia has risen through the ranks at Feyenoord to become one of the most promising talents in the Eredivisie since making his debut back in 2017.

The 22-year-old, who joined De Stadionclub’s academy in 2008, made 32 league appearances last season, scoring once and setting up a further four.

He was also instrumental in Feyenoord’s run to the Europa Conference League final, where they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.

Malacia’s string of impressive performances also earned him his first senior call-up to the Netherlands national team back in September 2021.

The Dutchman was bound to the Ligue 1 after reaching a verbal agreement with Olympique Lyon, who are looking to revamp their squad as they hunt for European football this season.

Peter Bosz’s side endured a horrid 2021-22 campaign, picking up 61 points from 38 games to secure an eighth-placed finish in the league — their lowest league finish in 26 years.

However, it appears Tyrell Malacia will be the first signing of the Erik ten Hag era after Manchester United swooped in and hijacked the deal from the French outfit.

The full-back will serve as an understudy and also provide healthy competition for Luke Shaw, with Brazilian international Alex Telles linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

Malacia has made 116 appearances for Feyenoord across all competitions since his debut, scoring four goals and providing 10 assists.
