Manchester United set to sign Cardiff City youngster Gabriele Biancheri | OneFootball

Manchester United are one step away from completing the signing of Cardiff City youngster Gabriele Biancheri.

According to The Athletic reporter David Ornstein, the 16-year-old will sign a scholar contract and then a long-term professional deal when he turns 17 in September.

The young striker completed his medical over the weekend and is highly rated as one for the future by the United hierarchy.

Biancheri made his debut for the Bluebirds at the Under 18s level in an FA Youth Cup fixture earlier this campaign.

The youngster has bagged 17 goals and five assists across all age-grade football this season.

His impressive performances have already seen him progress through the youth ranks at the Welsh club. He has also trained as a part of the Under 21 squad on several occasions.

Biancheri has represented Wales at the Under-17 level on three occasions, having made his debut last September. But the Cardiff youth prodigy is also eligible to represent England and Italy.

Chelsea were amongst a number of clubs that were monitoring the youngster’s development, but United have moved swiftly to snap him up.

The transfer does not need to be completed before Tuesday’s deadline, but all that remains is the paperwork before the transfer is officially confirmed.

United have continued to rely heavily upon the young lads from Carrington, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Anthony Elanga, and Scott McTominay playing a major part in proceedings this term.

Kobiee Mainoo is the latest youth player to link up with the senior squad as Erik Ten Hag continues to bridge the gap between the academy and the first team setup.

If his spell with Ajax is anything to go by, Ten Hag is more than willing to let the youths have a crack at first-team chance.

If Biancheri can hit the ground running, he could force his way into his manager’s plans sooner rather than later.
