Manchester United send condolences after Indonesia stadium tragedy | OneFootball

Manchester United have sent their condolences to the victims of the Indonesia stadium tragedy.

At least 174 people have died in a crush at an Indonesia football match between Arema FC and rivals Persebaya Surabaya, two of Indonesia’s biggest football clubs.

It has become one of the world’s worst stadium disasters as an extra 180 people were left injured at the overcrowded stadium on Saturday in Malang, East Java.

According to Times of India, more than 300 people were rushed to nearby hospitals and some of those died on their way or in treatment.

Reports also suggest the crush took place after police tear-gassed fans who invaded the pitch, despite FIFA stating that “no control gas” should be used by stewards or police at football matches.

Manchester United took time to send their condolences to those affected by the tragic events in Indonesia.

The @ManUtd Twitter account tweeted: “Manchester United is deeply saddened by the tragedy in Malang, Indonesia. We send our sincere condolences to the victims, their families, and everyone affected.”
