Manchester United’s current season has been a disaster and ever since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson retired, success has been sparse around these parts.

The club’s directionless approach since then has seen plenty of managers arrive who have subsequently signed big-name footballers without any overarching vision and the process has restarted each time a coach has been sacked.

But with INEOS now on board, they are planning to have a proper team in place behind the scenes which will decide the style of play at the club and recruitment will be centred around it with current manager Erik ten Hag’s powers to wane.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has only reiterated plans to recruit young rather than spending big money on mercenaries looking for one last payday.

Gems from the South American market

The Peoples Person recently relayed reports stating the club will focus on the South American market which has yielded great results for a club like Real Madrid.

Among a glut of players being tracked by the club, reports of United’s rising interest in Palmeiras’ 19-year-old wonderkid Thalys are on the rise.

Currently representing the club’s U20 team, the centre-forward has five goals in seven games and has “bewitched Europe” with his displays with his parent club being very careful with his development.

He is already regarded as “the next Endrick” and he is expected to fetch a similar amount as the soon-to-be Real Madrid star. The Reds have reportedly been watching him for two years.

United eyeing Brazilian wonderkid

He was previously a midfielder but due to his striking ability, he has since been pushed higher up. Thalys has also played as a withdrawn forward or a right winger and is taller than Endrick, standing at 6.1 ft.

Recent reports mentioned that the 20-time English league champions were already in touch, along with a few other clubs and now ESPN have added that scouts are paying frequent visits to see the versatile forward in action.

“Representatives from Manchester United were present at the Bruno José Daniel Stadium, on Tuesday afternoon to watch striker Thalys during Palmeiras under-20 team’s 2-0 victory against Corinthians, in the Brazilian Championship of the category.”

Thalys’ current deal is valid until October 2026 after the player signed an extension last year. It will be interesting to see whether the club can win the race for a player who is considered the “new Rivaldo” for the similarities in his movements and elegance.
