Manchester United are still interested in signing AC Milan star Franck Kessie as they learn his wage demands

According to Italian outlet Il Milanista (h/t The Express), AC Milan star Franck Kessie is still on the radar of Manchester United amidst wage demands.

The 24-year-old has less than 12 months on his current deal at AC Milan and is no closer to signing a new deal than before. Although the Ivorian has previously vowed his loyalty to the Rossoneri, his contract refusal has stunned the Italian club’s chiefs.

The problem regarding his new contract are his wage demands. Kessie is apparently demanding a salary in the region of €7-8million plus bonuses to stay at San Siro beyond this season, according to Sport Witness (h/t The Express).

AC Milan chairman Paolo Scaroni also recently revealed his stance on the matter and stated that they would let those players leave who have requests that cannot be satisfied by the club. Scaroni told Radio 24, as relayed by Calciomercato.it (h/t The Express):

“These are choices made above all by Maldini and Gazidis. I am in favour of a relationship between the club and professionals, but if they have requests that we cannot bear, we will make other decisions and wish them good luck.”

Thus, things are at a standstill, and United are ready to pounce on this situation. With uncertainty over Paul Pogba’s tenure at the club, signing another midfielder would certainly be a useful addition. Moreover, with Nemanja Matic’s contract set to expire in 2023, reinforcements are due in the centre of the pitch.

However, English rivals Liverpool and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also eyeing a deal for the 24-year-old, and United will have to beat them to the signature if they hope to see the midfielder in their ranks.

Regardless, the final decision will be made by Kessie, and it remains to be seen where his preferred destination lies next summer.
