Manchester United were linked with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic two seasons ago when Jose Mourinho was in charge.

The Lazio midfielder was viewed as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba, but a move failed to materialise.

The report says that Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and United are all ‘returning to the assault’ for the Serbian international.

Milinkovic-Savic recently scored a late winner against Hellas Verona to hand his team three points and fire them up to sixth in Serie A.

Lazio will try to convince Milinkovic-Savic to stay, but he may push for a move if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

They are currently six points behind Atalanta who hold the last Champions League spot.

Milinkovic-Savic has made 240 appearances for the Italian club during his six-year stay.

He has scored 40 goals and developed into a robust box-to-box midfielder who could play for any top European club.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has plenty of midfielders at his disposal. Donny van de Beek has played very little since his arrival last summer and Paul Pogba has been forced to play out of position to accommodate other midfielders.

Before pursuing Milinkovic-Savic’s, United will need to free some space in midfield to accommodate a new signing.
