Manchester United are pushing to sign Juventus midfielder and France international Adrien Rabiot (28), according to a report this afternoon from L’Équipe. The 2022 World Cup runner-up will be a free agent next June as his four-year contract with Juventus will end. The outlet reports that Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has made signing Rabiot an “important objective“, as is the signing of Tottenham’s Harry Kane. The Dutch coach has already spoken with the soon-to-be free agent.

L’Équipe add that Rabiot and Ten Hag were already in touch last summer. Talks have intensified lately on Ten Hag’s initiative. The former PSG man has never hidden the fact he would like to experience Premier League football. Newcastle United are also in the chase, but it appears that the Red Devils are the favourites to fulfil Rabiot’s dream to play in England.

“I don’t have a favorite team, there isn’t really a club where I would necessarily like to play ,” assessed Rabiot at a press conference during the World Cup. It is above all the league and its level that attract me. I also think that the way of playing there matches my qualities more.” In 2008, a 13-year-old Rabiot had signed with Manchester City, but the deal only lasted a few months. Two years later, Rabiot joined the PSG academy.

United would like to complete the arrival of the Frenchman as soon as possible. Rabiot is currently enjoying his best season to date. The all-action left-sided midfielder has scored 11 goals in all competitions this season with the Bianconeri.
