Reports suggest Arsenal submitted their second bid of £34-35m for Lisandro Martinez this week, but they’re set to face competition for the signing from Manchester United.
The Times claim that after completing a deal for Tyrell Malacia of Feyenoord, United will turn their attention to Martinez next. The same outlet adds that Arsenal are still short of the defender’s valuation.
Gunnerblog reports that there’s no clarity on Ajax’s response to Arsenal’s latest bid, but repeats that it does fall short of their valuation.
The Mirror claim Arsenal have been working on a move for a couple of months now, and they believe Martinez will eventually be allowed to leave.
The player himself is understood to be keen on a move and awaiting news of his club’s response. At this point, it’s mostly a question of where he ends up.
Arsenal fans will be feeling a bit tetchy about this situation at the moment, having watched their club go from being favourites for Raphinha to likely missing out on him to Chelsea.
Losing out on Martinez to Manchester United would not help matters.
