Manchester United’s players are the most loyal in the Premier League, that is according to newly released statistics.

With players staying at the club for an average of four-and-a-half years, the Reds Devils finished top of the table for loyalty among their playing staff.

Following extensive research by TicketGum.com, United were found to be the club where players stay the longest out of all 20 Premier League sides.

And this will come as no surprise to fans of the club, as players from past and present continue to spend huge chunks of their career at Old Trafford.

With such relatively short careers, and the beautiful game being as fluid as ever, players are constantly on the move.

Yet United have always seemed to be a club where players want to be, and to stay, as the data proves.

“Manchester United, don’t just have 659 million loyal fans, but also have the most loyal players – footballers spend an average of 54 months and 11 days (four and a half years) at the club,” the report read.

Over a month behind in terms of time spent at a club were Arsenal. They finished in second place in both the loyalty test and in terms of academy productivity.

Propping up the table were Brentford players, only sticking around for an average for 29 months and 6 days at the London side, according to the figures collected from 2000-2022.

With over 2 years the difference, some of the historic reasons for player retention between the big and smaller clubs might be fairly obvious.

But a look at the current United side shows a slightly different picture.

With long-standing signings such as David de Gea and Phil Jones having spent over 10 years at the club, and Luke Shaw approaching nine, United have proved that player longevity can be achieved despite a lack of success.

The club have always had players from the youth system who have started and ended their careers at Old Trafford too.

Among the top fifteen most loyal servants of the period, United have three in the top ten.

With Ryan Giggs spending his entire 23-year career with the Reds, and Paul Scholes and Gary Neville achieving the same feat, United have remained a club where players want to stay.

Former greats such as Bobby Charlton, Bill Foulkes and Wayne Rooney spent almost their whole careers at United as well.

And so it shows, despite recent allegations by the now departed Cristiano Ronaldo, who accused the club of having outdated facilities and being behind the times, Manchester United remains the place to be, and to stay.
