Atletico Madrid have turned down Manchester United’s first formal bid to sign Kieran Trippier.

The 30-year old’s future is up in the air after a successful campaign with the Spanish outfit.

He helped Atletico win their first La Liga title since 2014, making 28 appearances during the campaign.

Trippier didn’t score any goals but provided six assists, demonstrating his strong offensive abilities.

The former Burnley and Tottenham Hotspur defender is also in line to start for England in their first game against Croatia on Sunday.

The Red Devils are one of a few clubs linked to sign the full-back in the summer.

A report from Football Insider reveals that Atletico have turned down a £10 million opening bid from United.

If Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the England international to be in his squad next season, United will have to increase their offer.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the club’s first-choice right-back, but due to the lack of a quality back-up he has been forced to play most games.

He has extensive experience of playing in England and is perfectly suited to playing second fiddle to Wan-Bissaka.
