Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lost faith in Victor Lindelöf and wants another first-choice centre-back to partner Harry Maguire at Manchester United.
Maguire and Lindelöf have formed a partnership at the heart of United’s defence this season, but they have struggled to inspire confidence.
Having cost £70m from Leicester last summer, Maguire’s place is safe.
The Mirror reports that United boss Solskjaer is keeping his eyes open for another reliable defender, despite having described Lindelöf as a “leader” earlier in this campaign.
The Sweden international was signed by then United boss Jose Mourinho from Benfica for an initial fee of €35m in June 2017.
ESPN has reported that Old Trafford chiefs have made contact with Real Valladolid about Mohammed Salisu.
The 21-year-old defender only made his league debut for the Spanish side last August.
