Garner came through the youth set-up with the Red Devils and has made quite a splash at senior level over the last 12 months.

After spending the first half of the season on loan with Watford, Garner completed a move to Nottingham Forest where he really impressed by scoring four goals in 20 appearances for the Reds.

While his long-term future looks set to be with Man United, it seems that his short-term plans could include another loan spell.

Reports from The Sun have suggested that Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United are keen on taking the 20-year-old on loan, while StrettyNews have claimed that Rangers, Brighton and Norwich City could all be interested in a move for the player.

Where he’ll end up remains to be seen but there’s no doubt that Garner will be looking to take another step towards the Manchester United first team with another successful loan spell.

The verdict

It’s going to be very interesting to see where James Garner ends up.

The midfielder is a real talent and despite playing for an average Nottingham Forest side last term he still managed to show his quality as a top-level player.

While a Premier League move is possible, a move to a promotion-chasing Championship side looks the most likely outcome with Garner clearly intent on winning matches and player regular matches.

What that means for Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United, however, remains to be seen.
