Manchester United make forward Leon their first summer signing

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from Manchester United which was issued earlier this afternoon.
The 29-year-old Olympic Gold Medalist joins The Red Devils on a free transfer after recently leaving their Barclays Women’s Super League rivals West Ham United. Leon netted nine goals in 43 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances for The Hammers while she was a Vitality Women’s FA Cup runner-up with the club in 2019.
On the international stage, Leon has been capped by Canada on 81 occasions at senior level. The player has been in and around the Canadian squad for the last nine years, helping the nation to that Gold Medal success in Tokyo a little under 12 months’ ago.
After signing on with Manchester United, Leon said “I couldn’t be more thrilled and honoured to join this historic football club. To be the first Canadian female player to play for Manchester United fills me with immense pride and excitement. I can’t wait to join this talented group and put on the famous red jersey.”
Leon becomes Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner’s first signing of the summer.
