Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong impresses for Club Brugge on full league debut

Manchester United starlet Tahith Chong spent the first half of the season on loan at Werder Bremen without much success. Now at Club Brugge, he appears to be doing better.

The 21-year-old got off to an excellent start by scoring on his debut against Olsa Brakel in a 6-1 win on 3rd February. He has since continued his good form.

According to Football Oranje, the youngster made his first full appearance for Brugge against OH Leuven on Monday and put in an impressive performance.

It took Chong just eight minutes to grab himself an assist by setting up Ignace Van der Brempt to open the scoring. The Dutchman also went on to win a penalty in the 39th minute, one that Ruud Vormer duly converted.

Chong lasted 89 minutes on the night and once again showcased why he is held in high regard at United. Brugge won 3-0 on the night to further cement their spot as runaway leaders in the Jupiler Pro League.

They currently hold a 15-point lead over second-placed Antwerp and also have a game in hand.

Brugge boss Philippe Clement held a high opinion of Chong even before he made the switch to Belgium. Playing under a manager who rates him will only aid Chong’s development.

With a number of talented youngsters coming through the ranks at United, Chong has an opportunity to throw his name into the ring. Impressing regularly at Brugge will only aid his cause.
