It is a tough fixture for Manchester United in their return to club football after the international break. Ruben Amorim's side is on the road as they face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. The home side will be fresh off their FA Cup quarter-final win on Saturday.
The Red Devils are on a seven-match unbeaten streak. Even though they are 13th in the table, their win in the last match before the break against Leicester City away should give them confidence. However, in the reverse fixture, it was Nottingham Forest who won, defeating United in Ruben Amorim's second Premier League home match.
The Cameroonian is the No.1 at United and has started the most matches. He will start once again in a crucial match.
Mazraoui is another player who has featured in the most games for United alongside Onana and Zirkzee. The Moroccan is in the top three for passing in the league for them while no one has made more tackles than him in his team. He is a regular in the team.
After minimal involvement with the Dutch team during the international break, De Ligt will be fresh to once again start in the middle of Man United’s back three. He has been a regular since returning to the starting XI.
The £52 million summer signing is back from a foot injury and should come straight into the starting XI. Ayden Heaven, who started in his place in the last game, was injured in their win over Leicester. Yoro is expected to start over Lindelöf, who came on in that match against Leicester.
The Portuguese’s involvement was crucial in United's third goal, which put the game beyond Leicester's grasp in their last match before the break. He is a regular for club and country and is expected to retain his place.
Manchester United’s captain is their most important player. Fernandes starred against Leicester with two assists and a goal. He is the first name in the club's starting XI.
Things have not been great for the former Paris Saint-Germain player, but he is once again expected to start over Casemiro. Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo, although back in team training, could still be some way from returning to the starting XI.
The fullback has seen his fair share of minutes since signing from Lecce very late in the January transfer window. With Luke Shaw back but not yet ready to start, the Dane, who got an assist during the international break, should return to the starting XI after serving a three-match suspension.
The winger has three goal contributions in the last four matches. His work rate and energy on the field are important to how Amorim wants his side to play. Injuries to others have seen him return to the starting XI in recent months, and he will keep his place.
The Dutchman was omitted from their latest UEFA Nations League matches due to poor form, according to national coach Ronald Koeman. With just nine goals in over 60 matches in the last 12 months, Zirkzee will be keen to make the most of his opportunities at United as a result of injuries to first-choice players.
After a run of 20 games without a goal or an assist, the Dane got the latter against Real Sociedad in the Europa League win. A few days later, he scored his first goal in 21 games against Leicester before scoring once again in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League quarter-final against Portugal. With no alternatives, his recent form should give him confidence in his upcoming match.
