Manchester United will have to fork out a large sum of money to sign Borussia Dortmund midfield Felix Nmecha in the summer, a fresh report from Germany has revealed.

United are believed to be eyeing midfield reinforcements ahead of the transfer window, especially amidst uncertainty over the future of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen is all but guaranteed to leave United following the expiry of his contract while the club remain keen on offloading Casemiro, who was recently name-checked by Sir Jim Ratcliffe as a transfer mistake.

Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo’s future is not set in stone either as rumours continue to swirl about a potential sale in the summer in a bid to generate a profit and relieve the pressures brought about by the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability regulations (PSR).

If this happens, Amorim would be left with an injury-prone Mason Mount, an inexperienced Toby Collyer, Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte as his only midfield options.

United have been linked to several midfielders, including Nmecha. A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that the Red Devils are “suddenly chasing” Nmecha.

It was stated that United were willing to pay £40m for the Manchester City academy graduate.

Now, Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has given an update, indicating that Dortmund want €50m (£42m) for Nmecha.

Plettenberg wrote on X, “Manchester United are closely monitoring the situation of Felix Nmecha. However, there are currently no concrete talks or negotiations with either the player or Borussia Dortmund.”

“One reason is that United still have an excess of players in his position. Dortmund are demanding at least €50 million in the summer.”

“His contract runs until 2028.”

Dortmund are notoriously tough negotiators but considering they’re currently sitting in 11th place in the Bundesliga standings, they may be forced to sell to subsidise for revenue lost from not being in the Champions League.

The 24-year-old has made 27 appearances across all competitions this term, registering three goals and two assists in that period.
