Alan Varela has been an impressive player since his days at Boca Juniors. He signed for Porto last summer for a reported fee of €8 million. Since then, he has become an integral part of the side and impressed everyone with his footballing skills.

The 22-year-old has featured in 28 games this season so far, netting two goals and two assists. He is averaging 1.2 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1 clearances per game. He also has an average of 1.1 shots along with a passing accuracy of 88.8 (stats via whoscored).

Manchester United are eyeing Casemiro’s replacement

It’s apparent Manchester United have made up their mind to sign a midfielder in the summer. The obvious player to sign is a backup of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who is going through a dip in form. Moreover, the former Real Madrid player is also expected to leave the club following this season.

Hence, the Reds Devils want to sign a defensive midfielder and Alan Varela is a potential target. The Argentine midfielder is a defensively solid player and is known for his accurate passing. With no major weakness, he stands as a talent to watch out for the future.
