Transfer News: Manchester United are interested in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are interested in Tottenham Hotspur and England international Harry Kane.

This comes after the Red Devils terminated Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract. Such termination has left a void in their attack to be filled, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial the only players left as options.

Such a void has left the Red Devils looking for a striker and they have turned their attention to us and are interested in our talisman.

They are not the first Manchester-based club to come knocking on our door for Kane. Last summer, Manchester City were also interested in the 29-year-old but the valuation of the player by Daniel Levy was believed to be a stumbling block.

Kane sees his current contract run till 2024 and it would be a surprise if the stance on the player’s valuation or transfer would have changed, especially with the form he is in.

A trusted player by Antonio Conte, the England international has scored 12 goals in 15 league games so far this season. It would not make any sense to sell him in January and especially to a rival club.

Plus United are playing in the Europa League and have been inconsistent in the league so far. Spurs, meanwhile, are in the Round of 16 of the Champions League and sit fourth on the table. It would not make sense for the 29-year-old to demote.

While United can hope to sign the striker, it would be a surprise if they are able to secure his signature. Kane is currently in Qatar for the World Cup and is expected to play a major role in helping England go till the end this time.

From a strictly personal perspective, if you’re Kane, you leave the project at Spurs for a team that is guaranteed to elevate your career. Can Manchester United do that right now? While they have a vacancy up front, they are no longer the force they were a decade ago.
