The Red Devils could welcome back some key players ahead of two big games this week

The brief Ruud van Nistelrooy era at Manchester United continued with a 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

Despite taking the lead thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty midway through the second half at Old Trafford, the Red Devils conceded an equaliser four minutes later as Moises Caicedo found the back of the net with a superb volley.

It’s now one win in six Premier League games for Man Utd but van Nistelrooy will hope to complete his stint as interim head coach with back-to-back home games on the horizon against PAOK in the Europa League before another meeting with Leicester City three days later.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Manchester United injuries.

Tyrell Malacia

Malacia has not played for United since May 2023 but has been back in full training for a while now which suggests his 18-month injury hell after undergoing knee surgery is nearly over.

According to recent reports from his homeland, the left-back is on course to make his long-awaited return at some point this month.

Potential return date: November

Harry Maguire

The former United captain was forced off at the end of the first half against Aston Villa and it was confirmed he was facing a "few weeks" on the sidelines.

That timeline suggests he could be available for selection against his old club Leicester City at the weekend.

Kobbie Mainoo

Just like Maguire, the United youngster was ruled out for a "few weeks" after suffering a muscle injury in the closing stages of United's 0-0 draw with Villa.

Mainoo has subsequently missed the last five matches across all competitions but could make his return to action before the international break.

Leny Yoro

United's big money summer signing from Lille is yet to make a competitive appearance for the club having been sidelined since July after sustaining a metatarsal injury during the pre-season friendly against Arsenal in the United States.

Following successful surgery, the 18-year-old is making good progress and some reports have suggested he could be available after the international break - just in time for Ruben Amorim's first game in charge as head coach.

Potential return date: Sunday, November 24 vs Ipswich

Christian Eriksen

The Dane missed last Wednesday’s 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup fourth round due to injury and didn't recover in time to make the matchday squad against Chelsea.

No update was given on the experienced midfielder after the game but van Nistelrooy will no doubt share the latest before Thursday's Europa League showdown with PAOK.

Luke Shaw

Shaw hasn’t played for United yet this season after struggling with a calf injury, and it was confirmed by former head coach Erik ten Hag last week that the left-back has suffered a setback.

"The process is not going as we expected, that's the truth. The setback, if you want to call it like this, we want also to do it very careful," the Dutchman revealed. "When he is now dropping again, we want to be very careful.

"We know his past, we have to do this right, because we want him to be available, because he will have a big impact on our performances and also on our levels. We can't have him playing for some games and then drop out again. So, we will do it very carefully."

Potential return date: Unknown

Mason Mount

Mount has not featured at all since being forced off during United’s 3-0 defeat to Tottenham at the end of September and has since picked up another problem.

It remains to be seen when the midfielder will be fit and available for selection again.
