Manchester United have increased their offer for Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo to £70m including add-ons.
Ruben Amorim’s side have had two offers turned down for the Cameroon international, who has informed Brentford of his desire to move to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo has rejected rival interest with his focus on a transfer to Manchester United. Tottenham Hotspur had hoped to hijack the deal, having appointed former Brentford boss Thomas Frank, but saw an approach turned down by the player.
After several weeks of negotiations, United have now improved their proposal. The Athletic are reporting that the latest bid is worth an initial £65m, with a further £5m in add-ons.
United hope the bid can close the deal for Mbeumo after a slow start to the club’s summer business.
The Red Devils have targeted Mbeumo as Amorim looks to add goals to his side. The 25-year-old scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season, adding eight assists, and could join Matheus Cunha as a new attacking arrival at the club this summer.
Mbeumo has entered the final 12 months of his deal in West London but Brentford hold an option to extend his contract for a further 12 months.
Brentford are facing a fight to hold onto their top talent this summer. In addition to Frank’s departure to become Tottenham manager, captain Christian Norgaard has signed for Arsenal. There is also interest from Spurs and Newcastle in forward Yoane Wissa.
