Fans are desperate for a glimpse into what happens behind the scenes in Manchester and the club are in discussions with the US entertainment platform Disney to provide just that.

As reported by The Athletic, United are talking with Disney with a view to striking a multi-million-pound deal to create documentaries around the club.

It’s believed the series will focus on United’s trophy-laden period under Sir Alex Ferguson which stretched over 26 years.

United won 38 trophies under Sir Alex including 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League crowns and five FA Cups.

The plan includes the legendary manager featuring heavily with “substantial interview time” alongside some of his former players.

Additionally, Disney will have access to archived footage that will allow fans the opportunity to relive the club’s most successful period in its history.

However, a deal has not yet been officially confirmed with United holding out for an improved financial figure with the current proposal thought to be in the “low seven figures”.

Furthermore, United have previously held talks with Disney and the figures are now lower than they were two years ago when initial discussions began.

The Athletic have revealed that the club are desperate to find creative ways to boost income opportunities with funds needed to steer clear of PSR concerns while also having the requisite funds to improve the squad and the facilities.

“United are seeking to diversify their revenue streams as they seek to remain competitive at the top of the Premier League at the same time as clubs are striving to remain within the boundaries of Financial Fair Play regulations and embark on an ambitious stadium project,” say the outlet.

If a deal is agreed, the documentary series will air on Disney+ and will follow the successful “Welcome to Wrexham” series released in 2022.

Amazon have recently announced a trailer to cover United’s famous Treble season which will air on May 17 of this year.

However, United do not stand to gain any financial reward from Amazon’s three-part series with the deal being struck outside of the club.
