In a recent report, The Herald mentioned that Manchester United have set their sights on Rangers keeper Robby McCrorie this summer. It has been claimed that the Red Devils are eyeing a move for the Scottish full-back in this off-season.
McCrorie was a sporadic presence in Rangers’ squad last season as he struggled to earn a regular starting spot at the Ibrox Stadium. The 25-year-old made just four appearances for the Glaswegian outfit in the previous campaign on all fronts.
The Dailly-born talent did well to average 0.8 clearances and 4.5 long balls per game in the Scottish Premiership. He has even been accurate when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass success rate of 75.3% in the top tier of Scottish football (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at Rangers will run out in the summer of 2025. Hence, it won’t be easy to arrange a cut-price move for him in this ongoing transfer window.

McCrorie can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks when he is playing regularly on the pitch. He is a good handler of the ball and can make a few solid saves at the back. However, the Scottish talent needs a regular run of games to get his career back on track.
We can expect McCrorie to enhance the quality of Man United‘s squad. He has what it takes to serve as an ideal deputy to Andre Onana at the Mancunian club in the coming seasons.
At 25, McCrorie has his best years ahead of him which makes him a good choice for the Red Devils to consider in this off-season. However, there are some concerns over whether he is good enough to cope with the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football.
However, McCrorie could help the Mancunian club challenge across all fronts over the next few years. Therefore, it is only logical for Man United boss Erik ten Hag to try everything in his power to lure the Scottish goalkeeper to the northwest of England before the end of this summer transfer period.
