Manchester United have been presented with a major headache in their efforts to secure the services of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise in the upcoming summer transfer window.

United retain a strong interest in Olise and have him on their wishlist as a prime target. Both INEOS and the Red Devils’ scouting department are believed to be in agreement over pursuing the impressive Olise.

Despite his season being ravaged by constantly-occurring injuries, Olise still managed 10 goals and six assists in 19 Premier League appearances.

Unsurprisingly, Erik ten Hag’s side are not the only outfit chasing the Eagles star. Chelsea also have him on their radar and are said to be “bullish” about the prospects of landing him ahead of their competitors.

Olise is rated at a whooping £60m, which is thought to be the value of the release clause contained in his contract at Selhurst Park.

However, a swoop for the 22-year-old is now likely to be complicated by the fact that he has been named in France’s provisional squad for the 2024 Olympic games.

Manager Thierry Henry included Olise in his set-up, potentially causing problems for whichever team Olise begins the 2024/25 Premier League season with.

Olise’s call-up for Les Bleus means that he would miss a huge chunk of United’s pre-season tour and could even find himself scrambling to be available for the start of the new top-flight campaign.

The Paris Olympics are set to start on July 24 and run until August 10. The Premier League season kicks off on August 17.

It’s important to note that clubs are required to give players who have just returned from the tournament a period of rest before they’re thrust back into the action.

France, who face the USA, Guinea and New Zealand in their group, are one of the favourites to win the competition. which features 16 teams including Argentina and Spain. As well as the French capital, six other cities will host games, including the likes of Bordeaux, Marseille and Nice

It remains to be seen where this development puts off United or the 20-time English champions will still maintain their pursuit of the youngster.
