Transfer News: Manchester United handed a boost in chase for Eduardo Camavinga

According to transfer news from TEAMtalk, Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga. It has been stated that his exit from Rennes is ‘inevitable’ after there was no progress with his contract extension.

Signing his first professional contract in 2018, Camavinga became the youngest player ever to do so with Rennes. He made his debut for the first team in April 2019 against Angers and scored his first goal for the club against Lyon in December 2019. So far, Camavinga has made 82 appearances for Rennes, scoring twice and assisting five in the process (h/t Transfermarkt).

A natural central midfielder, he can also be used deeper in a defensive role. He also made his bow for France last year but was unlucky to miss out on a spot for the Euros. No wonder he is a target for top European sides such as Manchester United.

Now, Rennes are in a real pickle with their young star. His current deal runs out within a year. That means he will be free to talk to other clubs next season. It looks as if his exit is ‘inevitable’ after contract talks yielded no results. Rennes will have to sell the Manchester United linked starlet this season itself to avoid losing him for free next season.

Camavinga’s signing can be a shot in the arm for United. The club struggled to keep up the high energy levels through the season and another midfielder can be a welcome addition. He can be a great long term asset to the side if United can take advantage of the situation at Rennes.
