Manchester United are getting closer to signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford with the teams edging towards a deal.
Ruben Amorim’s side have submitted a second offer for the Cameroon international, worth in the region of £60m.
While no agreement has been reached, it is understood that the latest offer is close to Brentford’s asking price.
United want to make Mbeumo their second major signing of the summer, following the £62.5m arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Despite rival interest from clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle, Mbeumo has informed suitors of his desire to move to Old Trafford.
Mbeumo scored 20 league goals for Brentford last season, adding eight assists, and has been made a top target for a Red Devils side who were the fifth-lowest scorers in the Premier League last season.
United want to seal Mbeumo’s signing before returning for pre-season on July 7th, according to talkSPORT, and discussions over the add-ons of the package are ongoing.
Once a potential deal for Mbeumo is completed, United remain interested in adding a goalkeeper and centre-forward to their squad. The arrival of a goalkeeper could hinge on Andre Onana’s future, however, with AS Monaco having cooled interest in the Cameroonian.
Further transfers could also depend on outgoings as Amorim looks to offload a number of unwanted assets. Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford are all available for sale after spending last season out on loan. Offers will also be listened to for Alejandro Garnacho, who has been informed he does not feature in the plans for next season.
