Manchester United are showing interest in West Ham midfielder Mohammed Kudus (h/t the Guardian).
United have already signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, and talks are ongoing with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo.
Kudus has now emerged as another player on United’s radar. The Ghana international joined West Ham from Ajax for around £39 million in 2023.
Despite making a fast start in his first year, Kudus suffered a dip in form last season. He ended the campaign with five goals and four assists.
The 24-year-old’s contract has an £85m release clause which is valid for Premier League clubs between July 1-10.
Kudus can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder. This flexibility potentially makes him a good fit for Amorim’s system at United.
Chelsea and Newcastle United are also monitoring Kudus and may move for him over the next few weeks.
Kudus is known for his sharp dribbling and direct attacking style. He is confident on the ball and likes to take on defenders.
He also has a strong shot and often creates chances from midfield. He offers quality in attack but needs to improve his defensive work.
His decision-making in key areas needs improvement, but he is a talented player.
However, his excessive release clause makes a move to United improbable.
Given the club has limited transfer budget, they are unlikely to spend the bulk of it on a player who still has plenty to prove.
