Manchester United expected to spend ‘over the odds’ in the coming two weeks | OneFootball

It has been over 50 days and the Jadon Sancho saga is ongoing. Every day, reports come but the deal is stalled. Fabrizio Romano claimed weeks ago that Manchester United can sign Sancho if they are willing to pay €120m to Borussia Dortmund. However, nothing definitive hasn’t understandably happened yet.

Recent reports comes from BBC Sport’s Chief Football writer, Phil McNulty, and it is positive for the United fans. Taking to his twitter account, McNulty suggested that Manchester United are expected to spend beyond the odds over a particular acquisition.

Although there is a slight indication of what he was trying to suggest, he didn’t mention any name in his tweet, keeping the enigma secret with the use of the word “somebody.”

As per Romano, United are in the market to make three signings: center-back, left-back and a winger. Out of all United’s transfer targets, Sancho remains the #1 priority and the most expensive one.

However, in the following tweet, McNulty hinted that he was talking about United’s possible deal for Jadon Sancho.

This time, he went on to hint United’s chief executive, Ed Woodward might act firmly to showcase that they were not held to ransom at first; but ultimately, they would end up paying what ‘the selling club’ have been asking for a while.

Borussia Dortmund would only sell Sancho to United this summer if they get €120m from the Mancunian club — anything less than that and they won’t sell him.

Both his tweets are correlated and hint towards United making a final move for Sancho.

Sancho has been on United’s radar for some time now and is seen as a key element in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans to make a team for the future.

Since joining Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017, Sancho registered 35 goals and 45 assists from 101 matches.

Amidst the financial turmoil emerged as the ill-effect of COVID-19, United have been lackluster in terms of spending in the transfer market, signing only Donny van de Beek from Ajax. Nevertheless, as the report claims, there are signs of optimism.
