Erik ten Hag has confirmed Alejandro Garnacho apologised for ‘liking’ social media posts on X that criticised the Manchester United manager.

Garnacho was replaced by Amad Diallo at half-time, with his team losing 2-1 to Bournemouth. The young Argentine’s account liked posts from YouTuber Mark Goldbridge criticising Ten Hag’s decision to substitute him. United went on to draw 2-2 with the Cherries.

Ten Hag insisted that the matter had been dealt with internally, and drew a line under it in a Friday’s press conference.

"Alejandro is a young player, Ten Hag said. “Has to learn a lot. He has apologised for it and we move on."

Garnacho was guilty of giving the ball away for Bournemouth’s first goal, scored by Dominic Solanke. Ten Hag suggested after the game that his team improved once Garnacho was replaced by Diallo.

“We repaired it on the right side and we took more control of the game and if we would have been more calm and composed, we could have had a win,” Ten Hag said after the game.
