Manchester United employees ‘convinced’ by Manchester City outcome on 115 charges | OneFootball

Some officials within Manchester United are now reportedly ‘convinced’ that their rivals Manchester City will see their 115 charges from the Premier League ‘dropped’.

Around one year ago to the day, the Premier League confirmed that they had charged their reigning division champions Manchester City with over 100 breaches of its financial rules following a four-year investigation.

It was revealed in a statement on February 6th 2023 that the Premier League had referred City to an independent commission over alleged rule breaches between 2009 and 2018, whilst also accusing the club of not co-operating since the investigation started.

In a strong response to the allegations and charges from the Premier League, Manchester City said that they were not only “surprised” by the charge, but that they are also supported by a “body of irrefutable evidence”.

With very little in the way of public developments on the case, and the start date for a trial in front of an independent panel not scheduled until Autumn 2024, murmurs of the anticipated outcome have began to emerge in some quarters.

According to the information of Manchester City insider ‘Tolmie’s Hairdoo’ on X, some employees over at Manchester United are now ‘convinced’ that the Etihad Stadium club will have the ‘majority’ of their charges ‘dropped’.

The report also reveals the belief within Old Trafford that Manchester City will see ‘no serious sporting sanction’ imposed.

Manchester City and Manchester United have seen the two clubs move closer off the pitch in recent weeks, following the exchange of senior club officials in the direction of Old Trafford, both past and present.

As part of Jim Ratcliffe’s overhaul of football-focussed boardroom positions, United secured the signature of Manchester City’s chief football operations officer Omar Berrada to become their new CEO.

Jason Wilcox – who left the position of academy director at Manchester City in 2023 – has also been linked with a senior post at Manchester United, less than 12 months into his position as director of football at Southampton.
