Manchester United dealt £50k fine after tensions rise in feisty Premier League clash | OneFootball

The Football Association are always quick to throw fines at Manchester United, but they’re less inclined to punish referees when their decisions hurt us when it matters.

Manchester United have been hit with a huge FA fine after they passed the disciplinary threshold during their 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, as per the Manchester Evening News.

It’s usually a feisty fixture between the two teams, but tensions were greater when both teams challenged for league titles. Those days are over – for now – but Sunday’s game had no shortage of agro.

Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead after Robert Sanchez gave away a penalty, whilst Lisandro Martinez caused controversy when he picked up a yellow card for a reckless foul on Cole Palmer.

Martinez’s yellow card prompted a Premier League statement after full-time as VAR deemed it unworthy of a red card.

However, the Argentine’s booking was one of six picked up by the hosts’ -players during the game, with the referee trigger-happy when it came to yellow cards.

The other offenders include Manuel Ugarte, Diogo Dalot, Marcus Rashford, Casemiro and Amad Diallo.

£25,000 fine increased for Manchester United as double offenders

As a result, United have a £25,000 fine over a lack of discipline. It is increased to £50,000 because United are double offenders this season following the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham. The Reds had five yellows and one red card that day.

It’s a rubbish law from the FA and it can really hurt clubs who are in financial difficulty. The FA clearly doesn’t care about that and want to make it harder for those running football clubs. Even when their polices don’t make any sense.

Chelsea only had two yellow cards on Sunday, but they broke the above law three times this season and had to pay £75,000 after the previous offence. They will be fined a whopping £100,000 if they offend again this term.
