In a recent report, ESPN mentioned that Manchester United custodian Dean Henderson, who is playing on loan at Nottingham Forest, is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur. It has been claimed that Spurs are eyeing a move to sign the English keeper from the Red Devils when his loan spell at Nottingham expires in the summer.

Henderson’s Impressive Loan Spell At Nottingham This Season

The 26-year-old is having a decent loan spell at the City Ground as he has managed to put in a run of impressive displays in goal for the Midlands club. Henderson has shipped in 33 goals and secured six clean sheets in 20 appearances for Nottingham Forest this season across all fronts.

The Whitehaven-born talent has given a good account of himself by averaging 1.1 clearances and 6.4 long balls per 90 minutes in Premier League football. However, he needs to be more accurate when distributing the ball after completing just 56.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Henderson is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2025. Thus, Spurs will have to make a good offer if they want to lure him from Man United at the end of this season.

Should Manchester United Boss Erik Ten Hag Let Henderson Go?

Henderson can be a safe pair of hands in between the sticks and has got decent reflexes that help him pull off a few important saves at the back. He doesn’t mind coming out of his penalty box to clear the danger when needed and can make the ball travel a lot of distance with his goal-kicks.

The English talent is currently entering his prime and has what it takes to replace David de Gea in goal at Man United next season if Erik ten Hag decides to let the experienced Spaniard leave in the summer.

However, it seems more likely that the Red Devils will stick with de Gea who has done well to put in some match-winning performances for them this season.

At 26, Henderson will only get better over the next few years. Still, Man United should consider letting him go during the summer transfer period and use the money generated from his potential sale to strengthen other areas of their match-day squad.
