Manchester United consider summer move for Aston Villa star
Stretty News
The Scotland international, who missed the league win over United on Saturday due to injury, is said to be among our list of targets as the club looks to strengthen the midfield which has looked weak all season.
United always struggle to win midfield battles against the lesser teams, too, which is the biggest issue with the current team.
However, it is reported by The Telegraph that McGinn is admired by his compatriot Darren Fletcher, with the former United midfielder currently working as a technical director at Old Trafford.
Football director John Murtough will also have a say on any incoming deals.
We hope Ralf Rangnick will have a big say too.
But Fletcher’s admiration for the midfield ace has allegedly led to McGinn emerging as one of the options under consideration to sign in the summer.
Meanwhile, United are being heavily linked with a January move for RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara.
McGinn has two years to run on his contract in the summer, so Villa will not be pressured into any sale.
We shouldn’t forget that Villa are now managed by Steven Gerrard, a Manchester United-hating Scouser, and how they robbed Man City blind for Jack Grealish last summer.
It is also suggested that McGinn will be offered a new deal to extend his stay at Villa Park.
A lot of players will come under consideration at United in the coming months.
And, as much as I rate McGinn, it is too early to get excited about a potential transfer because we should be waiting for a green light from the next manager and we still don’t know who that is…
McGinn is a workhorse and has the legs to last 90 minutes, so I guess a couple of our current midfielders could learn a thing or two from a player like that.
Let’s wait and see if he accepts a new deal at Villa.
