Manchester United have confirmed that Paul Pogba has withdrawn from international duty with France due to an injury sustained in training.
Pogba had joined up with Les Bleus for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers with Kazakhstan and Finland but has now returned to Manchester for treatment on an injury to his right thigh.
And according to French outlet RMC Sport, the midfielder could be set for a substantial injury lay-off of between eight and 10 weeks.
The French Football Federation confirmed in the early hours of Tuesday morning that Pogba has been replaced in the squad by Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout.
“Paul Pogba has suffered an injury to the quadriceps of the right thigh and is forced to miss the next two matches.
“To replace him, Didier Deschamps called on Jordan Veretout.”
Pogba missed Saturday’s defeat to Manchester City through suspension and would also have been unavailable for the trip to Watford on 20 November anyway as he serves the final match of his three-match ban for the red card picked up against Liverpool last month.
