Manchester United have announced the signing of Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo for a reported £71 million fee.

The Cameroonian international joins The Red Devils following weeks of transfer speculation on the back of a season in which he scored 20 Premier League goals, as well as notching seven assists.

Mbeumo joins Matheus Cunha as part of Ruben Amorim’s restructuring of the United forward line after the club reportedly fought off interest from other Premier League clubs including Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.

“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” Mbeumo said following the move’s confirmation.

“This is a massive club, with an incredible stadium and amazing fans,” he continued. “We are all really determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”

Mbeumo’s arrival comes alongside Marcus Rashford’s loan departure to Barcelona, which is reportedly nearing its final stages. The future of fellow United winger Alejandro Garnacho is also uncertain.

Manchester United fans may get a chance to see their new star in action when they face West Ham United in the Premier League Summer Series on July 27th.
