Manchester United have finally completed the long-awaited capture of Raphaël Varane from Real Madrid.
Varane moves to Old Trafford in a deal worth a reported £35m, and he has signed a contract until 2025 with the option for a further year.
The 28-year-old joined Real Madrid from Lens in 2011 and he went on to play 363 games for the Spanish giants, winning three LaLiga titles and four Champions Leagues along the way.
“Manchester United is one of the most iconic clubs in world football and the chance to come here and play in the Premier League is something I couldn’t turn down,” the Frenchman told the club’s official website.
At international level the Frenchman has also lifted the World Cup, and his signing should be considered a huge statement of intent from United, who have announced the move just minutes before their Premier League season begins against Leeds.
