Manchester United are expecting a busy summer with plenty of incomings and outgoings predicted at Old Trafford.

Given INEOS’ recent arrival, major changes are on the cards across the playing squad and the backroom staff.

Striker coach Benni McCarthy is one of those likely to leave the club in the coming months and has dropped a hint on his potential next move.

As reported by South African press, the former Premier League front man could be on his way back to his native land to manage Premier Division side, Kaizer Chiefs.

McCarthy was grilled on whether a move back home would interest him and the African legend accepted that a move would be hard to turn down.

“If the opportunity arises to coach Kaizer Chiefs, obviously you will have to sit down and think about it. Like I said, you don’t say no to an institution,” McCarthy said.

The 46-year-old has been a popular figure since joining Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff but is expected to part ways with the club at the end of his contract.

A close friend to McCarthy’s agent confirmed his contract runs out at the end of June and he expects an exit for both his client and Ten Hag.

“l know Benni’s contract at Man U ends in June & that Ten Hag won’t be at MU (Manchester United) by then. So, believe me, Benni will leave,” said Peter du Doit.

However, Ten Hag’s future has not yet been decided by the board who are conducting their end-of-season review before making an announcement.

Having secured the club’s 13th FA Cup trophy and qualification for next season’s Europa League in the process, Ten Hag’s position in Manchester looks stronger than it did a month or so ago.

Whether McCarthy’s future depends on Ten Hag remains to be seen but both will be keenly waiting on the outcome of INEOS review.
