Manchester United can get Ajax star Antony for €60m | OneFootball

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Ajax forward Antony, with manager Erik Ten Hag keen on a reunion.

Ten Hag has turned his attention towards his former club for reinforcements, identifying Antony and Lisandro Martinez as top targets.

The need for attacking reinforcements has only increased after reports emerged that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Antony, who enjoyed a prolific 2021/22 campaign, is on top of Ten Hag’s wishlist; the Brazilian is also open to moving to Old Trafford to continue his development under the Dutch gaffer.

It was previously reported that the Eredivisie giants are willing to sell Antony for no less than €80 million, with the Brazilian contracted until 2025.

According to Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan, who told talkSPORT, Antony can be acquired for around €60m, which will come as welcome news for the Red Devils.

It might feel like a little overpriced, but Antony’s impressive form, higher ceiling and young age prove otherwise.

The 22-year-old racked up an impressive tally of 12 goals and ten assists in all competitions last term; he could have added more if not for the ankle injury he suffered during the final phase.

Especially, Antony’s impressive performances in the Champions League put him in the spotlight, as he was involved in six goals in seven games.

A top-class dribbler and chance creator, the former Sao Paulo star holds a Who scored rating of higher than 7.

A transfer to a top club like United will also increase the chances of his place in the Brazilian national team for the upcoming World Cup, having already earned nine senior caps.

The Red Devils have also jumped the queue ahead of Premier League giants Arsenal for Lisandro Martinez after increasing their offer to around £40m.
