Erik ten Hag was unveiled as Manchester United manager on Monday.

While everybody knows Ten Hag has a huge job on his hands and patience will be required along the way, the Dutchman believes Manchester United can put an end to their rivals dominance, after Man City won the Premier League title at the weekend.

It’s the first week of Ten Hag’s reign as manager but it also comes at the end of the season, so he might not get the chance to meet many of his players until they return for pre-season.

Ten Hag was asked about the mainstream media view that City and Liverpool will remain in the ascendancy until one or both of their managers, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp, part ways in the future.

After working at Bayern Munich, Ten Hag already knows Guardiola and has modelled his preferred style of play on the Man City manager after seeing the influence he made on the game in Spain and Germany.

Ten Hag told reporters (via The Mirror): “I admire them both, Manchester City and Liverpool. They both play really fantastic football. But you will always see that an era can come to an end and I am looking forward to battle with them.”

A reporter followed up with a question on whether a shift in power can happen in English football before the managers leave their respective club.

“I think yeah,” he added.

Ten Hag spoke well today and we are looking forward to learning more about his style of football next season.
