Manchester United backed to make a move for Harry Kane in the coming days

According to Football Insider, Frank McAvennie has backed Manchester United to make their move for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane in the coming days.

The English skipper appears to have had enough of life in North London after yet another trophyless season with Spurs. This has put the likes of United, Manchester City and Chelsea all on high alert. (h/t The Express)

Our noisy neighbours are the first major team to make an official bid for the striker. Pep Guardiola’s side’s offer is worth at least £100m while players could also be thrown in part exchange.

While Tottenham is set to reject the bid, City has certainly made the first move and will hope to seize the initiative. McAvennie believes securing the deal will see the Sky Blues dominate for the next few years.

He does however expect United to make a move of their own for the English skipper in the coming days. The Red Devils could surely do with such a clinical striker who can lead the line with ease and score for fun.

McAvennie believes the player will be a hit at United and will find himself among the goals on a regular basis. Perhaps curiously he also goes on to add that United could be forced to make a move in order to stop their arch-rivals from landing the player.

As things stand, United are closing in on signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. While the amount quoted is far from a club-record fee, it is still a substantial bit of money, especially given the current pandemic.

It is difficult to see Daniel Levy let Kane go anywhere close to the amount we are bidding for Sancho. Given that we also need to strengthen other areas of the pitch, it is difficult to see us challenge City for the England captain.
