In a recent report, TuttoAtalanta revealed that Manchester United are keeping a keen eye on Atalanta keeper Marco Carnesecchi. It is believed that the Red Devils are eager to acquire the services of the Italian custodian this summer.
Carnesecchi had a solid campaign at the Italian club after he put in a series of impressive displays in goal for them in Serie A. The Italian talent was involved in 44 matches for Atalanta last season, conceding 45 goals and securing 18 clean sheets across multiple competitions.
The 24-year-old has proven his worth as a reliable performer in Italian football over the past ten months. He has also distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass success rate of 75% in Serie A football (stats via fbref.com).
Carnesecchi is under contract at Atalanta until the summer of 2028 which could make it tough for the Red Devils to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.

Carnesecchi is a solid handler of the ball and can use his quick reflexes to make some important saves at the back for his team. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a decent passer of the ball as well.
Standing at 1.91m, the Italian talent is a towering presence inside his penalty area. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Red Devils manage to snap him up this summer.
Carnesecchi would no doubt enhance the quality of Man United head coach Ruben Amorim’s first XI. He has what it takes to serve as a good replacement for Andre Onana at the Mancunian club. Carnesecchi has got a wealth of experience in Italian football but might need some time to adjust to life in England.
Still, the pros outweigh the cons of recruiting a player of his quality. At 24, Carnesecchi’s best years are ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for the Red Devils to pursue in this summer transfer period. With all things considered, Amorim should focus on going all out to get him on board soon.
