Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag masterminded a spectacular 2-1 win over Manchester City to seal FA Cup glory yesterday – his second trophy in England in as many seasons.

From the get-go, the Dutch tactician had Pep Guardiola’s number, as City struggled to find any freedom in the middle of the park, leading to just one shot on target in the first half.

Guardiola’s second-half changes also did little to trouble Man United’s defence, who only conceded one goal before the full-time whistle.

Such a convincing performance at Wembley has led to many fans and pundits alike backing Ten Hag to continue at Old Trafford beyond this summer. However, it seems INEOS continue to explore their options.

According to The Telegraph, Ten Hag is ‘at serious risk’ of being shown the exit door even after leading the side to their thirteenth FA Cup trophy.

The final decision on his fate is expected to be made this week after a ‘thorough season review’.

Regardless of the decision on Ten Hag’s future, the club’s hierarchy have started talking to his potential successors.

Before the FA Cup final clash on Saturday, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United held talks with the representatives of Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna.

Now, The Telegraph is claiming the decision-makers at the Theatre of Dreams have ‘held discussions’ with the representatives of Thomas Frank and Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino, in particular, has emerged as a serious candidate following his sudden departure from Chelsea. Frank, meanwhile, has attracted interest due to the way he has led Brentford on a tight budget in the last six years.

The report further states that United have also previously ‘sounded out’ Thomas Tuchel’s camp. The former Chelsea boss is on the market after parting ways with Bayern Munich.

As far as Ten Hag is concerned, he made his case in multiple post-match interviews on Saturday, highlighting how injuries played a big part in his side’s struggles this term. After the memorable win, the 54-year-old has gone on a well-deserved holiday.
