Manchester United approach Fluminense midfielder Andre’s representatives | OneFootball

Manchester United have made contact with the representatives of Fluminense midfielder Andre, as per reports.

It has been widely reported that United prefer to bring in Manuel Ugarte to rejuvenate their midfield this summer, with the Uruguayan star also believed to be pushing for a move to Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils, despite continuous discussions, have struggled to find an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain over the player’s transfer fee.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming PSG have no intention to make things easy for United and they will only open the exit door for Ugarte if their asking price of €60 million is met.

Amid this, TNT Sports (via Sport Witness) have reported that United are keen on signing another South American defensive midfielder, Andre.

The report states that United as well as their Premier League opponents Wolverhampton Wanderers have “carried out negotiations” with the Brazilian midfielder’s agent.

However, both clubs are yet to send an offer to Fluminense for the 23-year-old.

It is understood Andre “wants to leave” the Brazilian outfit this summer, and their outing against Grêmio this week may have been his final game for his boyhood club, who allegedly need to sell him to raise funds.

Fulham have been previously linked with the midfielder, who is thought to be valued around €35m by Fluminense.

It remains unclear if United view Andre as Ugarte’s alternative or if the reported pursuit is independent of their move for the PSG player.

As far as Erik ten Hag’s counter-pressing setup is concerned the Uruguay international appears to be a better suited number six than the Brazilian talent.

Akin to a young Casemiro, Ugarte is incredible at recovering possession and covering the ground. Meanwhile, Andre is more suited to a possession-based system due to his impressive technical ability.
