Manchester United announce the signing of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord  | OneFootball

Manchester United have completed the signing of Tyrell Malacia from Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord.

Per Sky Sports, the Red Devils agreed an initial £13 million plus £1.7m in add-ons for the 22-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract with an option to extend for another year.

The promising left-back marks the club’s first foray into the summer transfer window and the first signing under the leadership of newly-appointed head coach Erik ten Hag.

“It’s an incredible feeling to have joined Manchester United,” Malacia said via the Manchester United official website.

“This is a new chapter for me, a new league with new teammates and a tremendous manager leading us,

“I know from playing against his teams in the Eredivisie the qualities he has and what he demands of his players.

“Whilst I know that I am still young and will continue to develop, I can promise the United fans that I will leave everything on the pitch every time I pull on the red shirt. I’ll always be thankful to Feyenoord for all they have given to me and my family.

“None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for them. Now I’m ready to focus on the future with United and help my new club achieve success.”

Malacia progressed through Feyenoord’s youth system before becoming a mainstay in the first team, making 136 appearances across all competitions.

He was heavily linked with Lyon, but United accelerated their interest in the Dutchman and hijacked the deal from the Ligue 1 side.

The full-back shares the same agent as Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who is reportedly United’s primary transfer target.

Malacia scored one goal and provided five assists in 43 appearances across all competitions last season and was pivotal in Feyenoord’s run to the Europa Conference League final, where they lost out to Roma.

He has also featured for the Netherlands national team on five occasions since making his debut in 2021.
