Sevilla and Manchester United are finalising the remaining details of Anthony Martial’s loan deal to the La Liga club, according to journalist José Manuel García.

Since the beginning of the January transfer window, Martial has been Monchi (Sevilla sporting director) and Julen Lopetegui’s first choice to strengthen their forward line, but United’s high expectations have been the main stumbling block in the operation. United began by asking for a loan fee plus the player’s salary, which was something Sevilla could not agree to.

Martial has even accepted a reduction in his salary, as reported by El Desmarque, in order for the deal to come to fruition. For the four months that Martial can stay at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, the Andalusian club will pay around €6 million. Talks with Martial and his entourage accelerated over the weekend to ensure that everything is in place before presenting the new proposal to the Premier League club, who must give the green light to the transfer.

There has also been talk of interest from Barcelona and Juventus, but Martial is clear and remains firm in his stance, he wants to join Sevilla. Contact between Martial and Monchi is daily and the player himself has reportedly rejected the Juventus option, having asked Manchester United to respect his desire to move to La Liga. He would be Sevilla’s second signing of the January transfer window after Tecatito Corona.
