Manchester United and Newcastle United – The fight for sixth place and a gardener

The Newcastle United hopes of European football next season, received a huge boost when Mikel Arteta’s rampant Gunners thrashed hapless Chelsea 5-0 on Tuesday night.

Mauricio Pochettino looked so shellshocked at times during the proceedings, that some onlookers may even have felt a little bit of sympathy for him.

As I have previously stated, a number of times, I don’t want Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, nor Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, to win the Premier League title.

I immensely dislike both managers and will never forget that Liverpool and Arsenal were two of the main Septic six clubs that were against the Newcastle United takeover.

Arsenal have recovered well after their recent 2-0 reverse against Aston Villa at the Emirates. They have beaten both Wolves at Molineux and now Chelsea at the Emirates, scoring seven goals and conceding none.

The stage is now set for Liverpool tonight in the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

However, all of our eyes and ears will be on Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace entertain Newcastle coming off the back of fine victories over Liverpool at Anfield and West Ham United at home on Sunday.

We should go into this game fresh and confident after an 11 day break since we annihilated Spurs once again.

Eze, Olise and Mateta will probably form Palace’s three pronged attack and I believe Eddie Howe will go with Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak, along with either Barnes or Murphy.

Newcastle United have scored 69 goals in the EPL this season which is already one more than last.

We have also scored more goals by substitutes (13) than any other club in the league.

If Bruno Guimaraes marshalls our midfield like he has done in an incredible and disciplined run of form, I think we have the necessary firepower up top to nick all three points.

Newcastle United are on a canny little unbeaten run and it is paramount that it stays like that before Sheffield United’s visit to St James’ Park at the weekend.

It’s between us and Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Manchester United for 6th position and we have been a better team than them, stretching back well over a season.

We have surely got to feel confident going into our final six games.

It will be an added bonus if we can ram the daft patter coming out of Ratcliffe as they look to secure the gardening Dan Ashworth and also the hypocrites on the Manchester United ‘Independent Voice’ (don’t make me laugh) Stretty News, right down their arrogant throats.
