Manchester City are set for an audition from an exciting up and coming prospect from Northern Ireland following on from his showings for rivals United and Newcastle.
It is the latest development concerning the Premier League champions and their continued work towards cementing future talents for the Etihad Stadium club, in an ambitious scouting network spanning the globe.
The City Football Group project as a whole enables Manchester City to scour the planet for the very best footballing talents, with a number of names having emerged for the club from South America in particular, and most recently, Argentina.
City confirmed during the January transfer window that Claudio Echeverri would be joining the club at the end of 2024, while there is still doubt over whether the teenager will be placed directly into Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad or sent out on loan.
Now, the latest reports have tied Manchester City with talent scouting much closer to home, this time making an assessment on a new name emerging from the Northern Irish game at the centre of widespread interest in England.
That is according to the information of Belfast Live, who report that Coran Madden is set to go on trial with Manchester City from next Monday, spending a period of two weeks with the Premier League champions.
The report reveals that the 15-year-old has already been on trial with a number of high-profile clubs including Manchester United and Newcastle United, after starring for Cliftonville Academy.
Manchester City will have their work cut out should they wish to progress in a deal for Madden following trial, with the player also said to be on the radar of Liverpool, Everton, Southampton and Leicester City, as well as Irish League sides including Premiership champions Larne.
City’s Academy based across the road from the Etihad Stadium has been one of football’s most prestigious conveyor belts for developing the game’s latest big-name stars in recent years, and as such generating huge amounts of revenue for the football club.
In the last decade alone, the likes of Jadon Sancho, Cole Palmer, Brahim Diaz, Romeo Lavia, Phil Foden, and Rico Lewis have all graduated from the Manchester City academy system, with their collective market values sitting close to £450 million, according to some reports.
Foden and Lewis in particular have managed to cement themselves in Pep Guardiola’s set-up on a regular basis, whilst competing with Manchester City’s incredible array of world-beating talents from all corners of the globe.
