According to L’Équipe, Mathys Tel (18) has decided to extend his contract with Bayern Munich.
Rumours had begun to surround the French forward this season that his reduced playing time under Thomas Tuchel had made him anxious to leave Die Roten over the summer. It was a situation that Manchester United and Liverpool were actively monitoring as they pushed to secure his signature.
However, despite the interest, the former Stade Rennais man, in reality never wanted to leave Bayern, with Tel even rejecting the offer of a loan deal during the winter transfer window. His commitment to the club will look to be formalised on paper as he plans on extending his contract by a further two years.
This extension will see him in Bavaria until 2029 as the club look to build their future around the talented Frenchman. Max Eberl, the new sporting director for the club, even stated in a recent press conference “Mathys Tel is one of the talents we have confidence in. We want him to develop here at Bayern.”
