Manchester United have received great news as talented youngster Shea Lacey could return to action after the international break.

United’s academy is full of numerous talented stars at the moment and this has only been enhanced by the signings of Chido Obi-Martin, Samuel Lusale and Sekou Kone this summer.

However one of the most hyped youngsters in the Carrington set up is Shea Lacey, who has been described as “the Scouse Lionel Messi”. He is a super-talented left footed right winger who excels at dribbling in tight spaces.

The 17 year old signed his first professional contract at the club back in April, penning a five year deal.

Injury struck for the youngster however, as he was ruled out of the rest of the season at the end of April and is yet to play in this current campaign.

The Manchester Evening News report that the academy are in for some good news as they “understand Lacey has been sidelined with a muscle injury but has made progress in his recovery and will be in contention to play after the break.”

Lacey could be set “to feature for the Under-18s against Newcastle on Saturday, September 14 and it’s thought he will be carefully handled and eased back into action”.

United will be wary not to rush the player back and cause more injury problems for him, as he has already had his fair share of medical issues in his short career so far.

Lacey is seen as “one of the leading lights” of the academy and numerous bits of video footage of the player playing for the academy have gone viral.

The young winger played 10 games for the under 18s last season, scoring two goals and creating four more.

He has also represented England at under 15, 16 and 17 level.

The youngster is so valued around the club that he has already trained with the first team and will be hoping to continue to gain from such experience and play regularly for the under 21s in this current campaign.

He may even see an opportunity to break into the first team at some point this season like fellow academy stars Toby Collyer and Ethan Wheatley recently have.
