Manchester United’s latest academy star Joe Hugill is reportedly set to be rewarded with a professional contract at the club.

Hugill, who turns 17 on Monday, was a summer addition from Sunderland and has lived up to expectations during his first three months within United’s development sides.

The teenage striker was initially brought in to play for the U18 side but has already progressed up to Neil Wood’s U23 team where he has impressed.

And according to the Manchester Evening News, the first-year academy scholar is now set to sign a pro contract keeping him at the club until 2023.

The deal is another sign of United looking ahead by securing the long-term future of one of their precocious youth talents.

Hugill has scored two goals in three starts for the U23 side, netting in a dramatic 3-3 draw against Arsenal on Saturday.

He has already been called up to an England u18 training squad and is clearly very highly thought of both at club and international level.

We look forward to seeing Hugill continue his excellent start to the season and cement his place as a regular in Wood’s U23 setup.
