The highly-anticipated Manchester City away shirt has once again been captured ahead of its official club release, this time appearing on sale in Italy.

The new release has become one of the most eagerly-awaited releases of the Puma era at Manchester City, after it first emerged in early February 2024 that the design would have a similar colourway to the club’s iconic 1998/99 away kit.

The Premier League champions’ newest away edition throws it all the way back to the 1999 Football League Third Division play-off Final against Gillingham on 30 May 1999, sparking the club’s return to the second division in dramatic style and a memorable Paul Dickov equaliser.

As has been understood for several months now, the new Manchester City away shirt for the 2024/25 campaign will be made up of predominantly navy, with ‘fluo-yellow’ stripes, and sky blue stripes in between.

And now, in what could be a clear indicator that an official club launch is right around the corner, the new edition has been spotted on sale in mainland Europe by one eagle-eyed Manchester City supporter this week.

As spotted by X user and Manchester City fan ‘Blue Tone’, the Manchester City away shirt – inspired by the club’s 1998/99 edition worn in the play-off final win over Gillingham – is currently on sale in the Italian city of Florence.

It is understood that in this particular store, the 2024/25 Manchester City away shirt has been priced at €94, in what will likely be the stadium jersey as opposed to the authentic version worn by Pep Guardiola’s players.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester City will launch either of their away or third kits in time for an appearance on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States across the next three weeks, with their first content scheduled for Tuesday night in the UK.

Manchester City will take on Scottish Premier League giants Celtic at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with a number of the club’s rising Academy starlets expected to get a run-out and a chance to impress Pep Guardiola.
